The Oughtred Society

William Oughtred was an original and creative mathematician, and one of the many fathers of the science behind the slide rule.

The Oughtred Society is "Dedicated to the History and Collection of Slide Rules". This international group (and yes, I am already a member, so please don't email to suggest that I might want to join) produces an excellent Journal (twice annually), and provides ongoing information and contacts for those interested in slide rules.

A subscription to the Journal is highly recommended for serious collectors, as a wealth of information appears in these issues that is not available anywhere else.

You can also buy all or individual Journal of the Oughtred Society back issues for a reasonable price. There are two meetings held annually in the USA (Palo Alto or Las Vegas seems to be a regular venue), and one in Europe.
