The Hope 740 is another custom rule made by Concise and marketed under another label, in this case Hope, who offered both circular and straight rules from Japan. The 740 is a metric converter built on the Concise data center ‘chassis’. The front is a compact 3 inch pocket circular slide rule, attached to a rectangular data center card (with side inch/cm rulers on the back). 12″/10″ Full Size System Rietz Mannheim Slide Rule.
Nestler’s most famous Mannheim rule, the same kind used by Werner von Braun and Albert Einstein. This rule has a mahogany core, with white celluloid faces, black, and red filled and engraved scales. Has the Rietz over-range scale extensions. This is a later production rule (R/3 revision), and in excellent condition over-all. Scales are unmarked. Glass 3 line cursor.
This simplex rule has cm side rulers 1:1 and 1:25, (great to leave parked on your desk!), all standard front/rear scales, inner body ruler extension, and conversion tables on the rear. Enjoyable to use, and very lovely to look at. One of the most classic and attractive German designs.

This is an unusual 6-scale (A, B, C, D – second B, C scales on reverse of slide) wooden rule from 1917, marked for reading out mils and yards – most likely this is either a survey rule, or was used for artillery calculations. The “FA” is very likely is an abbreviation for “Field Artillery.”
As rules go, given its age and production year, this rule is an actual piece of history.

5.5″ Circular Aviation Slide Rule
Constructed with one rotating film disk, and rotating cursor on each side. A very sophisticated and beautiful flight computer for doing altitude, pressure, wind drift, time, temperature, and fuel problems. The 617 features an additional rotating wind arrow on the back face, not present on other models.
The rule gives simultaneous solutions in both metric and US/Imperial units, without being cluttered or hard to interpret, an outstanding mechanical and artistic design. Still in demand today among many pilots, but very hard to find.

This is a Mark 5 Pilot Balloon Slide Rule manufactured around 1968. It measures 63cm[24.75in] long, 6.3cm[2.5in] wide and 12mm[0.5in] thick. The printed scales are engraved in the plastic faces. The slide rule has 4 captive cursors that ride in slots on the top and bottom edges. Each can be moved independently of one another. Steel knobs at both ends of the slide facilitate movement of the slide. These were made for and used by UK Government agencies, and not individuals. The Met.(meteorological) Office of the United Kingdom designated at least 6 different Pilot Balloon slide rule models. The first model in appearing 1915 made of wood by J.J. Hicks with two slides and introduction of the final, MK 5 model in the Late 1960’s.

This is essentially a late version of the 4053 made all of Ivorite like the 4150 series pocket rules, with folded scales, and decimal trig scales related to the C and D scales.

10″ Logarex/Koh-I-Noor Darmstadt Slide Rule VERY LATE MODEL, made in Czechoslovakia. Powerful, brand new full sized rule with front and back cm/inch edge rulers, smooth black scales, 3 log log scales on the slide reverse, pythagorean and trig scales, and 4 line cursor, and dual reverse side body cursors. Unusually marked, this rule contains ONLY scale equivalents, no arbitrary letters. Has a soft black padded leatherette case with top flap, and the name of the UK distributor for Logarex (Hellerman) embossed on one side. A very powerful and well-designed rule, but uncommon in North America. Like Pickett rules, this is lithographically made, not engraved, and has a shiny top coating for protection of the printed scales. A very nice desk rule to use for many purposes, thanks to the dual rulers. The 4 page Hellerman basic instructions are included.

A visually beautiful rule, complete with 2 part plastic case and factory box. The 544A features the trademark S/M blue slide and body braces, multi-line (5 line) cursor, plus two color (red/black) scale markings, and folded scales. The rule is self documenting on the right hand side for all scales. Staedtler-Mars rules are highly requested but quite uncommon in North America, and are very well made designs. Attractive blue slide and body braces, complement the bright blue and white two part plastic case. The folded scales are especially useful for mark-up/discount calculations, and a center index is well marked for this. The ‘invisible brace’ style with braces on the back gives the rule a very clean European look from the front.
Blank on the reverse side. These were still sealed in a factory bulk pack, so everything is in mint condition. We have included reprints of the S/M consolidated rule instructions because these came factory packed with no instructions.

This is a very rare surviving example of one of those rules, that features a small stylus that is concealed in the upper left corner of the rule, and can be slid out to operate the addiator integrated into the back of the rule. Basic Rietz format rule (has over-range scale extensions for easier operation) with added reference features. It has a black/red self-documenting scale arrangement and pale yellow slide. The slide reverse has trig (S, ST, T) scales, and the back has a treasure trove of useful data and factors. It has a slightly magnifying multi-line simplex cursor design that does area of a circle, plus some other interesting stuff like horsepower conversion. Perfect sets of a very advanced Log Log rule with blue accent stripes on primary scales, RED inverse scale markings, plus self-documenting on the right hand side. Has 4 trig scales (T1, T2, ST and S), PLUS P pythagorean scale, an exceptionally rich scale set and excellent user features.
